BIOGRAPHY

Tayla Relph is a 28-year old who lives in Warrnambool, Victoria. Relph originally grew up in Brisbane her entire childhood, with her home club being Motorcycle Sportsmen of QLD.

Her motorsport journey started in a rather untraditional way, with no family history of competitive road racing. Relph got herself into the sport at just 2.5 years old, when her parents took her to a crusty demons show, displaying motocross bikes doing backflips in the air. The then 2.5 year old knew straight away that was what she wanted to do, demanding a motorbike for Christmas and refusing the leave the stadium until her parents said yes. Luckily, Santa delivered that year, and she woke up on Christmas day to a brand new Yamaha PeeWee 50cc.

Her journey in motorsport quickly rose from there, and she never looked back, knowing this was where she belonged.

Relph started her motorsport journey first on the dirt across both flat track and motocross disciplines, with this turning to road racing when she was 10 years old. Her journey into Road Racing began through mutual friends of her father, Steven Relph, who had friends at the local club of Motorcycle Sportsmen of Queensland. Her Dad picked Tayla up from school one afternoon, with her KTM 65cc in the back of the ute with motard wheels and slicks on, where he took her to the local Go Kart Track at Queensland Raceway.

After the first lap on the bitumen, Relph knew this was where her next journey in motorsport would take her. She spent her first year on the tarmac on a mini motard set up bike with her KTM 65cc, and she first jumped on a full spec road bike of a Metrakit 80cc.

For her first few years in Road Racing, Relph completed many State Championships across both Queensland and Victoria, winning multiple state Championships against males.

Relph further stepped up to the ASBK - Australian Superbike Championship when she was around 16 years old, on board a Moto3. Tayla's first big break in road racing came when she was 19 years old, where she won her first-ever Australian Championship race in the Moto3 category at Sydney Motorsport Park, also becoming the first female to win an Australian Championship race. That same year, Relph's second race win came in Perth's Barbagallo Raceway.

Relph's best place overall finish in the ASBK - Australian Superbike Championship was 2nd overall in the Moto3 category.

The Moto3 category eventually dwindled in Australia, which then saw her jump to the newly formed Yamaha R3 Cup category; the championship she would then spend the next 5 years in.

Tayla's most monumental and memorable race in the ASBK - Australian Championship came in October of 2018, where she finished second place in the highly competitive Supersport 300 category onboard her Yamaha R3 at Phillip Island Circuit.

Relph was unfortunately struck with severe health issues from 2019 to 2022, where she was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease. Relph spent multiple months in hospital, many surgeries and extensive medical treatment plans, where after 3 years of hard fighting, she came through to remission at the start of 2022.

Relph slowly started to get back into racing in late 2022, which then lead her to where she is now, competing in the inaugural FIM Women's Circuit Racing World Championship in 2024 for her debut in the World Championship.

Tayla is now set to compete in the WorldWCR Championship for the second consecutive year.
